LOS ANGELES, Calif.: (May 4, 2005) – Local southlander will be honored on Saturday, September 17, at the Manhattan Beach Marriott, for her dedication to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Ms. St.Germain, an avid tennis player and Manhattan Country Club member, the prestigious south bay club where the annual tennis tournament will be held once again. The Grand Slam & Celebrity Tennis Tournament has raised over $2 million in the past 20 years.

“When I learned how Cystic Fibrosis touched the lives of children and affected families, I knew I had to get involved and was impressed when finding out that .90 of every dollar donated goes back to research. I wanted to make sure to bring awareness about the disease to all my friends and travel industry associates,” said Evelyn League-St.Germain, president League Marketing Group. “I hope this unexpected recognition encourages other businesswomen/men to share their time to make our communities a better place to live because the more you give the more you receive.”

The Annual event will be kicked-off at the Manhattan Beach Marriott on September 17, with silent and live auction, dinner and dancing, and honoree presentation. The following day, registered participants will take part in the fun-filled Celebrity Tennis Tournament at the Manhattan County Club.

The 20 th Annual Grand Slam Gala & Celebrity Tennis Tournament promises to showcase well-known celebrities from various Entertainment categories. This year the event celebrities are being kept close to the books and will be released in the coming months. Previous years’ some of the Hollywood participants included; Jonathan Canter, Rae Dawn Chong, Steve Eastin, David Foster, Joanna Garcia, Kelsey Grammer, Cheryl Ladd, John Lithgow, Jon Lovitz, Wendi Malick, Donna Mills, Pat O’Brien, Matthew Perry, Alan Rachins, Bill Scanlon, Seal, Paul Sorvino, and Alan Thicke.

Proceeds from the event are used to help find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis (CF). The disease causes the body to produce an abnormally thick, sticky mucus, leading to chronic and life-threatening lung infections and impairing digestion. Currently, there is no cure for CF. The genetic disease affects approximately 30,000 children and adults nationwide, with 1,000 new cases of CF diagnosed each year. One in 31 Americans -- more than 10 million people -- is an unknowing, symptomless carrier of the defective gene. An individual must inherit a defective copy of the CF gene -- one from each parent -- to have CF. Half of CF sufferers die before they reach their mid 30s.

The 20 th Annual event is made possible by the following generous contributors and sponsors: American Airlines, BJ’s Restaurant & Brewery, Countrywide Banks, Diadora, Ketel One, Kerry Hotels, League Marketing Group, Inc. & Sees Candies.
